I am a Senior Lecturer in Data Science, Statistics and Operational Research with research interests spanning these disciplines. My passion is applying analytical techniques to solve real world problems and currently I supervise a number of KESS II PhD studentships that aspire to do just that in organisations ranging from Tata Steel to NHS Wales.
Following a BSc in Mathematics, Operational Research and Statistics I studied for a PhD in Operational Research, before becoming a Research Associate at Cardiff University. As a Research Associate in the Healthcare Modelling Unit I worked in collaboration with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Here I utilised a range of analytical techniques to improve utilisation and efficiency across a number of key services. I continue to work on a number of projects across the local Health Boards including recent work predicting bed numbers for the Critical Care Unit at the Royal Gwent Hospital.
I am keen to supervise PhD students on projects utilizing analytical techniques from Operational Research and Data Science.
